Thanks for another awful conclusion to an otherwise excellent college football season. Alabama drubbing a terrible LSU offense with a barrage of field goals was about as exciting as a week six matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans. The Crimson Tide’s only loss was to LSU, during the actual football season. LSU – who had the better overall season. The season ended then with those two, OK State, Stanford, and Boise State all having one loss.
The number one problem with the whole system isn’t the BCS itself. It is that the supposed top two teams in the country play 5 WEEKS after the season ended. People talk about NFL teams having rust after a bye week. Shorten the bowl season considerably and play the title game, at the most, three weeks after the season ends. Put all the Little Caesars Pizza Bowls and Fear.com Bowls into a three week bowl blow-out. Take the top six teams and have a playoff. The number one and two seeds get a bye. If you aren’t in the top six you probably don’t have a legitimate shot at beating those top two teams. You can still call the bowls all the different names and have the same sponsors. Yes the BIG 10 might not get the Rose bowl with the PAC whatever they are now, but who cares? The conferences aren’t even the same anymore and are going to continue to change. Get it done college conference fat cats.
